Claims in Europe
As of now, EFSA has not approved any function or risk reduction claims for any nutrient in Womega or for the finished product. We are working on a clinical study for an article 13.4 and 14 claim, and we hope to get this in 2011.
Omega 3: A proposal for nutrition claim related to the content in omega 3 fatty acids and unsaturated fatty acids has been proposed by EFSA. According to this, Womega will be able to claim: HIGH IN OMEGA 3 FATTY ACIDS.
K2: EFSA has made their opinion based upon vitamin K without distinguishing between vitamin K1 and K2 (Ref. 3). Therefore they have accepted following claims independent of RDD:
· Vitamin K contributes to maintenance of normal bone
· Vitamin K contributes to normal blood coagulation
Cocoa(nOX), vitamin D and Cardiolina have no EFSA approved claims
Claims in different countries
Summary of claims from different countries, not EFSA approved:
· Maintenance of the healthy heart (Finland)
· Healthy heart for women (Norway)
